English Renaissance Books

If you can't see the book list below, it will pop up in a second! You will find three columns of titles related to the writers and texts of the English Renaissance, with particular attention to Francis Bacon and William Shakespeare. The left hand column is mainly concerned with Francis Bacon, the middle column deals with Shakespeare. The right hand column features some titles that focus on the cultural or political aspects of the period, and also on other writers such as Ben Jonson, Edmund Spencer, and John Milton. Foreign influences on the culture of the English Renaissance also feature, particularly Niccolo Machiavelli and Giordano Bruno.

The field is huge. Many of the best books are either out of print or in scarce supply. The listings approximate to the themes found in the essays on this site. Comprehensive biographies are available to subscribers.

To save space and downloading times just one highly recommended "Complete Works of Shakespeare" has been included in the listing. It consists of 38 hardback volumes of the individual plays and poetry and represents excellent value for money.
